  • What are Cellulitis & Bursitis? (Also known as Subcutaneous Cellulitis)

Cellulitis is the inflammatory response caused by bacteria beneath the skin and usually occurs following infection or trauma. The infection causing cellulitis can make your skin red, swollen, and painful.

Bursitis is when the bursa (a fluid-filled sac that reduces friction around your joints) becomes inflamed due to infection or irritation by movement or pressure. This infection in bursistis causes pain, swelling and difficulty moving the affected joint.

Causes of both Cellulitis & Bursitis include overuse, rubbing, pressure or injury at joints and it is mainly seen in the Hand, Elbow, Knee & Shoulder.

Both conditions (Cellulitis & Bursitis) are prevalent in many professions such as: Bricklayers, Labourers & Miners, Gas, Water, Electrical & Assembly Workers, and Carpet Fitters.

They go by many names: Bricklayers Shoulder; Tennis or Miner’s Elbow; hip bursitis or trochanteric bursitis; housemaid's knee, clergyman's knee & policeman's heel.

What should I do if I am suffering from an Industrial Disease such as Vitiligo?

The first step if you are suffering from Cellulitis or Bursitis would be to call us so we can assess your claim for compensation and advise you on whether you will be eligible to claim.

The second step is to go see your GP who will need to take an in-depth history and establish a relationship between your symptoms and a possible work related cause. Such as inadequate protection or clothing.

Further to this any medical(s) instigated by our solicitors will cost you nothing, they will be paid for by the solicitor and claimed back as a disbursement from the other side.
