What is Caplan Syndrome? (Also known as Rheumatoid Pneumoconiosis)
Caplan Syndrome (Rheumatoid Pneumoconiosis) is inflammation and scarring of the lungs in people with Rheumatoid Arthritis* who have been exposed to mining dust, such as coal, silica, or asbestos. Caplan Syndrome symptoms include cough, shortness of breath, wheezing, alongside joint swelling and pain.
*Rheumatoid Arthritis is an auto immune disease which causes inflammation of the joints and surrounding tissues.
What should I do if I am suffering from an Industrial Lung Disease such as Caplan Syndrome?
